Understanding Match Scores

When we surface matched programs after you submit a trip brief, each result shows a match score as a percentage.

What the score means

The match score reflects how closely a planner's program aligns with your trip brief. It is calculated using semantic similarity — meaning we compare the meaning and context of your brief against the full content of each program, not just keyword matches.

A score of 70% or above is a strong match. Scores below 55% are not shown — we only surface programs we believe are genuinely relevant to your brief.

What affects the score

  • Destination alignment
  • Travel style and experience type
  • Group size compatibility
  • Budget range overlap
  • Program content and inclusions
  • If no matches appear

If no programs meet the match threshold, we show a custom trip request option instead. This means we did not find an existing program that fits well enough — but a planner can build one for you from scratch.
